This Friday 13th January we will be organising a stem cell donation stall at Al Manaar Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre, London W10 5YG

Salaam everyone,

Our dear friend and sister Meriem Derouiche from Manchester is very unwell. Sadly, her leukaemia has returned in a very aggressive manner and she is having strong chemotherapy in hospital.

She previously had a stem cell transplant (SCT) from her sister but doctors have said the SCT now needs to be from a non- family member.

She needs this to save her life.

It is much harder for the NHS to find a match for patients from an ethnic minority background and any delays will have devastating consequences.

To give Meriem the best chance of survival, we are urging everyone to consider joining the SCT register, particularly Algerians/North Africans.

At our stalls we will ask you to fill out a short registration form and then take a mouth swab.

After this simple process, you will be added to the register and will be contacted if you are a match for Meriem or anyone else. (There is a 1 in 800 chance you will be asked to donate in the next 5 years).

Please forward this to as many people as you can and spread the word. InshAllah we will get Meriem home to her 2 year old son as soon as possible.
