MUSLIM CULTURAL HERITAGE CENTRE

Baraka Community Association’s events seek to enable informed and open discussions on a range of key
issues raised by our communities. Its latest event, Faces of the Far-Right, will provide an overview of the
current state of the far-right, explore current trends, themes and risks, and discuss how we can come
together to tackle these concerns. The murder of Jo Cox, the Finsbury Park attack, the proscription of
the neo-Nazi group National Action and the subsequent string of arrests for suspected membership of
this organisation, have all been a testament to the very real and ongoing terrorist threat originating from
far-right extremism. These concerns are reinforced by experiences of increased hate crime and
Islamophobia as evidenced by the latest Home Office figures.
Speakers will include an academic expert on the far-right, a former member of the far-right, and local
authority staff working to tackle hate crime and radicalisation on the ground.
